In exposed-aggregate finishes, the aggregates (the stones and/or sands) near the surface are revealed; these would otherwise be concealed by a thin layer of cement. The Exposé range is created through a process resulting in the stone being exposed which highlights the natural elements of the stone. There are a number of techniques for producing exposed aggregate finishes, each creating a different and distinctive appearance.

Eexposing aggregate is a popular choice for driveways or areas requiring more grip. It also makes a great surface for garden paths, pool surrounds, custom landscaping and outdoor entertainment areas.

Very simply, a broom of varying degrees of stiffness can be swept over the concrete as it sets, to create a finish that is both functional and attractive.

Polypropylene and horsehair bristles will produce light textures in the concrete, while polyfibre bristles are used for medium and coarse concrete textures. Special long soft plastic bristles are used for texturing over long distances, which prevents the mortar being dragged across the surface or clogging the bristles.

Although typically used to provide a straight pattern in the concrete, curved lines, wavy finishes and sawtooth patterns are also possible. A broom finished can also be used to improve slip and skid resistance for applications such as driveways and pathways.
